Straight from my booth at the prestigious Yellow Daisy Arts&Crafts Fair, here are
a selection of wildlife sketches inspired by nature. Painted on wood
so the grain becomes an integral part of the art, with frames fabricated
from twigs, planks, moss and other all-natural ingredients. Some are matted
with another wood piece and then painted.
I did this to get away from the sewing machine. It’s fun to go out looking for
God’s free treasure. Nuts, vines, somtimes a perfect dried bug or dragonfly
can just make my day! Today there were ripe ,dazzaling green muscadines
to eat along the way.
The twig frames on the smallest sketches, are what I visualized as birds nests. I’m
fasinated by the small creatures ability to build their own homes.
I dream of one day doing the same, using what’s on the land to
build or even sculpt a home… Where would one build a house of lace?
